Sunday's Oufit

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Here's a little getup I wore yesterday. I don't have much to scribble about it except to say it got a lot of weird looks at Woolies. (But that's life in a surf town for ya.) Almost everything is thrifted except for the pink vest which is funnily enough from Woolies and the shoes which are from Milady's. The sunnies are Mr Price and the brooches were gifts. Cheers to Craig for snapping these pics!

Money-saving make-up tip:
Get every last bit of pretty goodness out of your beloved lip balms, gloss pots and lipsticks by using a cotton bud or lip brush to dig it out of those unreachable corners.

Powder your lashes lightly before applying mascara and apply the mascara in a zig-zag movement.

Never store your makeup in the bathroom.
The humidity and the temperature will make them last shorter.

The best makeup tip I gotta share is let the skin breathe for certain days if you don't have anything special going on with your life. (Bit tricky if you work full time but I agree!)

My tip is that when you are buying foundation, no matter how good the tester looks on your face in the store, ALWAYS check it sunlight.

I always struggled to find the perfect colour for my cheeks, so I've discovered the best colour for my skin tone (or anyone!) is to buy the colour my cheeks turn when I'm flustered or after a gym session. As well as pinching the cheeks helps too! :) (Haha, love that!)

Have all your equipment/application area near to a window or as much natural light as possible. If you apply make-up in a dark room or orange lighting you end up over-doing it and walk out into the natural day like a drag queen. (not cute) (lolz)

I have small eyes and as you’ll see from my wedding photos, when I smile they turn into little half-moons. When I want my eyes to look bigger, I line the bottom inside lid with a long-lasting white eyeliner. Works wonders! I’ve also found curling my eyelashes before coating them with mascara, opens up my eye.

I always heap translucent powder under my eyes (or my models) so when applying eyeshadow if any escapes onto your face the powder will catch it and you can just brush it all away with no evidence!

When you have a makeover, don't immediately buy what they've applied to your face. leave the shop and harsh lights and walk around a bit or go home and see if you like it in a more natural light. many times i've come home and got freaked out when i've seen myself in the mirror!

Man oh man, there were literally over a hundred awesome tips submitted. Some of you took the time to write such amazing lengthy replies! I was wracked with guilt for forgetting to mention that I was drawing the winner randomly, rather than from the best tip submitted.  But if you fancy some make-up advice, check out the comments on the giveaway. There is some gold in there!

Dear Diana, you naughty little minx

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Edit: I've had to reblog this puppy since Blogger's mini-meltdown! Déjà Vu! Oh dear. Me and Lomography cameras. They hate me a little. I know the pics are meant to be kinda crazy but mine hardly ever come out. *Grabs a tissue for her issues!* I finally got around to snapping my first roll of slide film with the Dreamer and had 'em cross processed. Ten out of twelve pics came out. But six of those were mostly...black. Gah! I wouldn't be so frustrated if they weren't such costly experiments. But, I'm gonna have a bash with standard 120mm film and I'm not gonna cross process 'em. We shall see! But here are the four pics that faired alright. The first one is totally inspired by my friend Lauren who took the most amazing pics of the beachfront with her Holga - they were a lot better than this guy! Next up are thrifting rails at the SPCA followed by Craig noshing an ice-cream and then we have some daisies. (Blogger ate the comments for this post but I received 'em, thank you!)

Blog Template and erm, a blouse

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Aloha! For those who asked, my blog template is Minima and I added the third coloumn using this tutorial. I also widened the post area to 540 pixels and shortened the side bars to 170 pixels each. Only thing is, I can't for the life of me remember where I learnt how to do that - soz! Basically, I spent many-a-night tinkering with the HTML and CSS. Long-time readers may remember when Gloss looked like it was having a regular identity crisis! I tried to help someone start a blog the other day and I couldn't find any of the old templates including Minima. In fact, I didn't know what was going on with the new interface! Wow, this is proving to be the most unhelpful post ever. I can suggest this site for those of you using Blogger. I learnt loads about customizing my blog over there. Also, Firebug is a great little gizmo that can help you with HTML and CSS. It's a bit of a minefield to begin with but as I'm sure many of you know, it's helluva rewarding to conquer a 'coding' challenge. Any programmers reading this must be having a right laugh! So...no real nuggets of know-how to share but the web is fortunately full of tutorials. If you have any blog tips, tricks or links, I'd love to hear 'em!

PS: Loving lacy blouses with black ribbon at the mo! This one is Mr Price and the ring is from Diva.

Lucky Packet

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Look what I found at the local BP - a paper lucky packet!
It was full of strange candy and a cell phone - haha!
I'm dead chuffed with the water hoop game - I loved those as a kid.

Also, hello new visitors! If I could welcome you all with cheeses-on-sticks and pitchers of punch, I would. And Robynne. I owe you a cheese fondue with all the trimmings. Thanks so much for recommending Gloss to Blogger's 'Blogs of Note.' My blog thanks you too. It wants to know if your blog is available for girls' nights and picnics. I think they'd be BFF's. Less ridiculously, I've had a few emails enquiring about my camera, photo processing and blog template. Regular readers will probably know this stuff but I will do new posts on these topics soon. So howdy and thanks again!
