Saturday Market Shoppin'

For some reason, I couldn't sleep on Friday night and ended up catching up on blogs at 3am. A couple of the market regulars blogged what they would be selling the next day so when I eventually nodded off around 4am, I ended up dreaming about biscuit brooches and button scoops! In my zombie state on Saturday morning, I ended up buying instead of browsing so I am now poorer but well accessorized. Here are a few snaps of the day. I've linked up the goodie makers below. x

Dinner and a show!

You know how cute couples go to carnivals for first dates in American movies? That's pretty much the stuff of my dreams. I LOVE funfairs and all their trimmings! Thing is, they hardly ever come to Durbs and when they do, they're kinda random. But, a magical travelling show called Madame Zingara has come to town! The troupe hails from Cape Town and the tent in which they perform is draped in plush purple velvet with stained glass windows around the top. It's one of twenty ever made! A bunch of us from work huddled into a booth and Captain Jack Sparrow served us a scrumptious four course meal! In between bites, people in sparkly getups swung from the ceiling and threw each other around on rollerskates. It was amazing! And wonderful to see so many people dressed up in feathers, sequins and suspenders. We weren't allowed to snap pics of the show itself but here are a couple of the setting. Lots of underwear on washing lines which I was rather taken with!

Mornin' Sunshine

A talented Durban photographer by the name of Kevin Goss-Ross snapped these pics of my old friend, Portia, who is a full-time singer and mama. I just love the styling, Portia's smile and her little one noshing grapes. Kevin and Portia kindly gave me permission to blog 'em - thanks you two!

A Thursday Evening

Cripes, look at us Durban girls - two events in one week! Tonight (or yesterday if you're reading this over a bowl of fruit loops), Nadia and I headed to Con Amore in La Lucia Mall for a bit of a bloggers' swaray, if you will. We arrived to find everyone swigging champers and noshing on a smorgasbord of macaroons, sushi and cupcakes - aka, crack for bloggers! It was great to put a few more faces to blogs (!) and meet the lovely Candice who works for Con Amore - which I kept pronouncing as Con Amore but which everyone kept correctly pronouncing, Con Amoray! For some reason, I feel ridic breaking out from a strong Durban accent into French annunciations! While walking around the store, I found lots of lovely things for my lovely dream home. In said home, I will read books about Paris while lounging about on Union Jack Pillows in fancy silver shoes. It's gonna be great. But enough rambling.
