This blog is turning into a tribute to Alex, haha! Jon's little nephew turned one last week. Loads of people came to wish him on Saturday and he was chilled and happy the entire time. Jon says he is a very 'composed child' - truth! Happy birthday little man. You're in for so much fun this year. x

Spring with Brother Bear
My brother and I went to visit our grandparentals today. We had a little photo fun in the gardens while they were catching up. In two weeks time, my bro is going to board a plane and fly to Oz. There is a new job, a beautiful girl and a million amazing opportunities awaiting him there. I am so happy for him but of course, so sad as well. Don't want to think about it too much today. x

Snugs for Alex
I met Jon's mom the other day! FYI - she's awesome. Her and Alex were just precious together.
His expression in the last pic - destroys me. Such a little character, this one.

Thoughts, goals and to-do's
I've almost clocked a month on the new job! I'm sorry I've had to be a bit cryptic about it all but such is the ad/retail biz! Life is no longer the same, friends. I come from a situation where my day was divided into computer work, meetings, brainstorms, dashing about town, setting up for events etc...and right now, I'm writing from 8 till 5ish because that's what's needed and man, it's intense! I may have to scale back on other aspects of life until the dust settles. Long term readers will know, I've always been a happily, productive night owl but I'm in bed by 8:30 now! So these are just a few random thoughts I'm scribbling off the top of my head to help me feel organsied.
- Pay off my credit card over the next 6 months (if not sooner) and then pack away that bad boy for good. We made it through some tough times together, CC. But you and I are done now. It's been real.
- Resolve Smitten. I'm not sure what to do about my beloved Smitten. It requires hours of time and buckets of TLC. I've had to turn down a few shoots because I don't have enough spare time to dedicate to it and this bums me out. I need to give this one some serious thought.
- Starting next weekend, I'm going to start treating myself to Sunday afternoons at home where I can catch up on life, neaten my flat, snap pics, prep blog posts and chill.
- Get a fitness routine going again. This time last year, I made such progress with this but I've been crashing in the evenings. Yesterday, I sorted my act out and I'm determined to stick with it!
- Fix all the things I've been meaning to for ages like my faulty freezer and computer speakers.
- Actually use to-do lists for once in my life. I've always kicked against routine but now I am craving it to help me feel sane!
- Stop blogging about to-do lists and rather, update one right now. x

Braai Day at the dam!
Today was Heritage Day aka Braai Day in South Africa! Tall One and I had a chat about it the other night. Me: Shall we go picnicking in the Midlands for the public day? {SILENCE} Him: Laurs, for one, do you even realise it's Braai Day? Me: Er, no Him: This is like my Christmas. We can go somewhere but we WILL braai. I once hauled a braai grid up a mountain for Braai Day and this other time we.....I don't remember what his second point was but he counted down the sleeps and we did braai by the dam. It kinda looks like we baked at the dam, but we braai'd. The meat shots just looked a little... frightening and also, the word, 'braai' is starting to look crazy typed out this late. Hope you fellow Saffers had a super relaxing day? x

Gen's bridal-fair-planning studio!
I visited Gen and little Olive last Sunday. Gen is working on an alternative bridal fair and I went into a snapping frenzy when I saw all the cute bits scattered around her studio. I find other people's studio spaces extremely inspiring - could have played in there all day! x
