Dirty Blonde

I'll always have a soft spot for Courtney Love. She had a really troubled childhood which alot of people don't know about. I think somebody just needs to give her a cup of tea and a good old bear hug. She's recruited bassist, Melissa auf Der Maur for the third Hole album called 'Nobody's Daughter,' although no sight of guitarist, Eric and drummer, Patty. I always find it a bit weird when bands keep their name when just about all the original members have been replaced. Anyway, news about the album reminded me of 'Dirty Blonde' - Courtney's autobiography/scrapbook. I bought it a couple of years ago and it really is an incredible body of letters, photos and scribbles. You can take a peek here. x

Oh wow, I don't know how its possible that I didn't know this book existed! I have always felt like she was so misunderstood, and of course Nirvana is one of my fave bands of all times. I have a great biography called Come As You Are which I highly recommend, as well as Kurt's journal. I must must must add this to my collection. Now to find it!

Hi I just found your blog through Gala Darling. If you are big Courtney Love fan then you MUST read Her Mother's Daughter by Linda Carroll, Courtney's mom. While most of the book is about Linda and her own growing up she details most of Courtney's life from her birth until they lost touch when she was sixteen or so, although she did visit Courtney, Kurt and Francis when she was born. It's excellent and I can't recommend it enough. Here is Linda's website:
